Archive

Statement

Bestiaire is a taxonomy-led archive for Art Nouveau ceramics—built to support slow looking, cross-linking, and scholarship.

The archive behaves like a connected museum ecosystem. Objects live inside animal categories; maker dossiers link across studios and manufactories; regions and materials provide controlled vocabularies for research and curation.

Records are designed to hold museum-grade metadata (date, material, dimensions, provenance) alongside editorial writing, footnotes, and source references. Navigation is treated as an exhibition device: each click should move you from object to context without breaking the cinematic thread.

Maker representation and entity type are stored as internal editorial fields to support future curated indices without forcing a blunt public filter in the main navigation.
